To help boost recruitment and improve yield among prospective PhD students, our department sought to create a compelling video that would highlight the strengths of the program and the caliber of its students. The goal was to showcase what sets the department apart and provide prospective students with a more personal, engaging introduction to the program. I collaborated closely with faculty and student stakeholders to shape the narrative, and I took on multiple roles throughout the production process.
Concept & Results:
I served as the producer, director, grip, and editor on this project, guiding it from concept through final delivery. We crafted a video that spotlighted student experiences and the department's unique research culture. The final piece was distributed through targeted email campaigns, social media, and both the departmental and university websites. It has since garnered over 260,000 views, helping to drive notable increases in engagement and student interest.
This project taught me how to manage production at multiple levels while staying aligned with strategic goals. It also reinforced the value of authentic storytelling in recruitment—something I now carry into every communications project I lead.
